Overview

The Manager of Data Governance plays a critical role in leading and overseeing the data
governance initiatives within the organization. This position is responsible for developing and
implementing comprehensive data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks to ensure the
integrity, security, and availability of organizational data across various systems including WEB,
EDI, Data Warehouse, Infrastructure, Claims Payment System, and others.

Responsibilities

▪ Develops and executes a strategic roadmap for data governance in collaboration with senior
management and stakeholders.
• Leads and manages the data governance program, ensuring alignment with organizational
goals and regulatory requirements.
• Defines and enforces data governance policies, standards, and procedures to enhance data
quality and consistency.
• Oversees metadata management activities to ensure accurate documentation and
classification of data assets.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to establish data ownership, stewardship, and access
controls.
• Conducts regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance with data governance
policies and identify areas for improvement.
• Facilitates communication and training sessions to educate stakeholders on data governance
principles and best practices.
• Serves as a subject matter expert on data governance matters, providing guidance and support
to internal teams and external auditors.
• Implements data governance tools and technologies to support data lineage, metadata
management, and data quality initiatives.
• Manages data governance projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting
on key milestones and deliverables.

 

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborates with IT teams to integrate data governance controls into existing and new
systems.
• Participates in industry forums and conferences to stay current with trends and
developments in data governance and management.
• Supports the leadership in developing data governance policies and initiatives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health
Informatics, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 8
years of experience in data management, with at least 3 years in a
leadership or managerial role within a data governance function.
Proven track record of successfully implementing data governance
frameworks and initiatives in a complex organizational environment,
preferably in healthcare or a regulated industry. Experience with data
governance tools and technologies, such as data cataloging, data
lineage, and metadata management tools.

 

Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications

Certification in data management or data governance (e.g., CDMP,
DGSP) is desirable. Strong understanding of data management
principles, including data quality, metadata management, data security,
and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA). Proficiency in mapping tools
(e.g., Visio, Lucid Charts), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint), and Atlassian Suite (Jira and Confluence).

requirements. Collaboration: Foster collaboration and teamwork across
departments to achieve data governance goals. Adaptability: Flexibility
to adapt to changing priorities and business needs while maintaining
focus on data governance objectives.

 

Work Environment And Physical Demands

More than 50% of work time is spent at a video display terminal. May
be required to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, or work in other non-standing
and non-sitting positions to install cabling, systems hardware and other
related equipment.
