Overview

The Mental Health Manager is responsible for the management of mental health services, which includes multiple work groups of significant depth and complexity. Responsibilities include overall management of this service area, including working with the Behavioral Health Administrator for the development of the service areas objectives and design and implementation of supporting and expansion programs, processes, policies, and/or procedures to successfully achieve those objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with other operational departments on the administration of mental health benefits for members.
  • Liaison with county mental health partners to ensure appropriate, timely and effective delivery of services to our members.
  • Participate as part of the Behavioral Health Department team in the delivery of mental health services and oversight.
  • Respond to state oversight and regulatory bodies to ensure program compliance with all regulations.
  • Provide supervision to Behavioral Health department staff as assigned.
  • Participate in organizational meetings and external meetings as assigned and required.
  • Facilitate meetings with external stakeholders to represent the organization and department in these meetings.
  • Work directly with the Behavioral Health Administrator to assist in the oversight of the delivery and administration of all mental health services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling/Mental Health preferred; at least five (5) years of relevant program management experience required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience to include a minimum of five (5) years program management experience will be considered. Experience managing program teams with multiple position levels. Experience in public funded mental services and experience in a health plan environment preferred.

 

 

Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications

Critical thinking, strong organization skills with ability to prioritize assignments and manage time effectively. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interpret and articulate project requirements to involved stakeholders. Excellent attention to detail, and listening skills required. Valid California driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with PHC policy are required to operate a vehicle and travel for company business

 

 

Performance Based Competencies

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain courtesy and composure when dealing with internal and external customers. Ability to function effectively with frequent interruptions and direction from multiple team members.

 

 

Work Environment And Physical Demands

More than 50% of work time is spent using a desktop computer. When necessary, the ability to lift, carry, or move manuals and reports, weighing up to 25 lbs.
