Overview

To design, install, configure, implement, and support all aspects of infrastructure environments, providing technical guidance and oversight and acts as a point of escalation and technical support. Responsible for server farms’ uptime, production maintenance, roll-out of new servers, and other critical deployments. Responsible for assisting in the support of PHC’s server applications, web servers, database servers, fax server, VOIP infrastructure, UNIX/Amisys systems environment, Pure storage array based SAN environment and other application servers, as determined by the Director of Network Operations. Assist senior team members with network, related hardware devices, and other functions. Responsible for PHC’s production network uptime and assist senior team members on heterogeneous servers backup and restores. Develop policies and procedures for various complex server operational procedures and maintain them. Practice systems change management procedures. Work with Operations and other IT staff to resolve server / network/application problems on priority basis.

Responsibilities

Implement and Maintain UNIX/Linux Environment

  • Provide proactive monitoring of UNIX/Amisys systems environment and problem resolution, user support, printing support, system application support, Operating System support, hardware/software system installation, configuration and maintenance.
  • Build and monitor services on production servers.
  • System level support for Oracle application and database Servers, Java application servers other large-scale databases in a UNIX/Linux environment.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity in UNIX/Linux environment; Pure storage array based SAN environment.
  • Perform proactive monitoring for high availability, System data protection, backup and restore, user account management, disk storage management, hardware and OS maintenance, and application maintenance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain services such as Apache and Tomcat.

Implement and Maintain Windows Server / Client Farm

  • Implementation and deployment of servers from ground up – using Windows 2008/2012/R2 distributions.
  • Monitor and maintain software and hardware for optimal performance. - Develop and implement Server Hardware/Software preventative maintenance plan.
  • Implementation and maintenance of Server Distributed File System (DFS).
  • Assist in the administration of Exchange 2013 Exchange Server.
  • Administer centralized patch management and software distribution using WSUS, MDT, and/or group policies.
  • Implementation and maintenance of Server Virtualization environments (VMWare ESXi and/or Nutanix Acropolis).
  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and support of PHC business applications.
  • Troubleshooting windows server connectivity, windows startup issues and interoperability issues with Linux/Unix.

Implement and Maintain LAN / WAN Environment

  • Configure new network components in a controlled environment.
  • Assist in the administration and deployment of networking components (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Security Appliances, Modems, etc.).
  • Assist in the administration and deployment of Remote Accessibility components (VPN Concentrators, Site to Site VPN tunnels, SSL VPN gateway and Cloud Computing).
  • Monitor and maintain network equipment for optimal performance.
  • LAN connectivity troubleshooting with various switching protocols, layer 3, 4 routing & switching.
  • WAN with ISPs, and application vendors/partners to diagnose, and resolve technical issues.

Implement and Maintain Data Reliability Systems

  • Implementation and maintenance of data backup and recovery systems.
  • Serve as lead administrator on Enterprise Data backup systems (Commvault).
  • Ensure data integrity via reporting, process audits, and periodic recovery dry runs.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of Virtualization backup.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery plan.
  • Monitor and maintain Microsoft BitLocker (MBAM) disk encryption system.

Implement and Maintain Avaya/Nortel VoIP Systems

  • Administer and support existing Avaya/Nortel CS1000 VoIP systems maintaining a service level of 99.999% uptime.
  • Support the development, production and operation of new VoIP system enhancements.
  • Support and manage the implementation of local and/or remote voice communications   hardware, software and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting difficult or complex end-user telephony problems using knowledge, tools and resources by coordinating appropriate resources in the problem resolution process.
  • Manage service interruptions/outages in a timely manner by working with appropriate IT staff, call center staff, and vendors.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Assist service desk with daily tasks, as required.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff members.
  • Assist senior team members when requested or required. Also assist service desk with daily tasks, as required.
  • Must provide and carry a cell phone and be available for consult or assistance when needed 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business related field or equivalent experience. Four (4) years of network/server administration experience. Managed care or practice management experience a plus.

 

Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications

Four (4) years’ experience with Windows server and Active directory administration in a production server farm with DHCP/DNS/WINS servers. Unix/Linux and Oracle administration experience. Familiarity with installing and maintenance of Unix/Linux scripting languages like Perl. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Apache and Tomcat. Experience with backing up Unix, Virtual, and Database systems. One (1) year experience in managing network backup with storage networking– SAN, NAS, and DAS. Two (2) years of Cisco or HP switch and router configuration and troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols, sub netting, routing, and IP architecture required. Two (2) years of VMware ESX experience. Work experience with large data centers, server hardware, and related certifications is a big plus. Avaya, Nortel, Microsoft, Cisco, and Linux/security certifications preferred, not a mandate. Experience with hardware RAID arrays and other server hardware configurations, performance tuning is a must. One (1) year experience of Microsoft SQL 2005/2008 administration. Candidate must be a team player, willing to work on an on-call basis to accommodate production environment demands. Willing to lead and mentor more junior staff members, and take direction on projects from Director of Network Operations. Valid California driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with PHC policy are required to operate a vehicle and travel for company business.

Ability to work effectively with members and employees at all levels in the organization. Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of member, employee, and PHC information. Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to interpret and understand technical requirements. Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve systems problems.

 

Work Environment And Physical Demands

More than 80% of work time is spent in front of a computer monitor. May be required to lift, carry, or move equipment of varying size, weighing up to 50 lbs. May be required to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, or work in other non-standing and non-sitting positions to install cabling, systems hardware, and other related equipment.
