Under the direction of the Associate Director of Communications and Public Affairs, the Communications Supervisor is responsible for the development and execution of PHC communication strategies. The Communications Supervisor will proactively advance PHC’s mission, strategic plan, and being a valued neighbor in the communities served by PHC.
Education and Experience
Two –three (2-3) years of experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities listed above, including: health insurance, Medi-Cal/Medicaid, and/or Medicare sales experience; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications
Knowledge of the following will be taken into consideration: principles and practices of health care service delivery, managed care, health care systems, and medical administration; appropriate outreach techniques to diverse community-based social and ethnic groups and to communicate effectively with them; existing relationships with community-based and Partnership associated organizations. Working knowledge of computers and related business software applications. Basic understanding of design principles and production marketing print materials. Familiarity with California Medi-Cal program and/or Medicare program preferred.
Valid California driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with PHC policy are required to operate a vehicleand travel for company business.
Performance Based Competencies
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain critical relationships with external sources. Ability to handle varying situations with tact and diplomacy.
Work Environment And Physical Demands
Ability to use a computer keyboard. More than 15% of work time is spent in front of a computer monitor. When required, must be able to move, lift, or carry objects of varying size, weighing up to35 lbs. Little travel may be required.
