  • Overview

    To plan, implement, and analyze health education (HE) and cultural and linguistic (C&L) services for PHC staff, Providers, and Members. Participates in state level HE and C&L committee meetings and designs and implements work plans to meet regulatory requirements.


    • Conducts Group Needs Assessment (GNA) research and prepares report for DHCS per regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborates with PHC leadership in developing and implementing quality improvement programs, and designs health education initiatives based upon GNA results.
    • Develops and implements a work plan that meets regulatory guidelines, at least annually, and updates it as necessary.
    • Identifies appropriate health education material for distribution to members.
    • Provides education regarding HE and C&L through written articles for PHC's Provider and Member Newsletters, and local public newspapers.
    • Develops and maintains information on both the provider and member portions of PHC's website.
    • Reviews written documents intended for members from any PHC department to ensure that the documents are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Establishes effective working relations with community resources and service agencies, as well as other Health Plans. Acts as liaison for PHC on various community level and State level committees.
    • Plans and coordinates inter-departmental planning for internal HE and C&L Workgroup meetings.
    • Monitors contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements for cultural and linguistic services.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Education and Experience

    Master's Degree in Health Education, Public Health, Community Health or related field required; experience in Public Health Education.


    Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications

    Certification in disease specific education preferred (I.E. Diabetes Educator; Asthma Educator). Valid California driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with PHC policy are required to operate a vehicle and travel for company business.


    Performance Based Competencies

    Strong, effective oral and written communication skill. Ability to work with ethnically and culturally diverse populations. Requires patience and ability to work with people of all levels of understanding and education.


    Work Environment And Physical Demands

    Ability to use a computer keyboard. More than 80% of work time is spent in front of a computer monitor. When required, ability to move, carry, or lift objects of varying size, weighing up to 25 lbs.
